We just saw this recipe for a Spring Cleansing Smoothie on the Green&Healthy Living 2care newsletter. Thank you to Michelle Schoffron Cook for posting it. It’s supposed to be a detoxifying drink – the jury’s still out on this claim – but it is definitely tasty and refreshing. We added a bit of organic mint from the Organic market and the result was super-satisfying. At WhereInCabos we support organic and local products, however we are yet to find organic avocados, but the local avocados are delicious and since the skin is removed the flesh is not loaded with pesticides.
Dr. Michelle’s Super Spring Cleansing Smoothie
1½ cups of cold water (or more if you prefer a thinner consistency)
6 inches of organic cucumber, sliced in half-inch disks
One stalk of organic celery, sliced in 2-inch pieces
One organic avocado, pit and skin removed
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until the texture is smooth. Adjust the amount of water if you prefer a thinner or thicker consistency. While you are marvelling at the great taste, you may forget that the celery provides over 14 pain-fighting compounds and loads of vitamins and minerals, including: riboflavin, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, vitamins A, C, and K, folate, potassium and manganese. The avocado adds fiber, protein, healthy fats, vitamins C and K, and folate. The cucumber is a good source of vitamins A, C and K, pantothenic acid, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and manganese.
